Women Unabridged

Women Unabridged is St. Peter’s-based women’s book group.

Who are We?

We are open to all the women of St. Peter’s, plus any guests or friends, who would like to participate. We are all ages, abilities, and stages of life. We share fellowship, and our meetings may also provide a respite for some of our busy lives.

What Do We Do?

Meetings

We mostly meet monthly, in the evening. During the pandemic, we have often met via Zoom. However, it has been our custom to enjoy a potluck dinner at a member’s home, or an after-dinner, tea-and-dessert meeting either at someone’s home or the church Fellowship Hall. We choose a book for every month and spend some time discussing it at the meeting. Books are chosen sometimes by theme — for example, February is Black history month, April is poetry month — or it could be a book that a member feels is meaningful for her and so recommends to the group. We try to pick books with many copies easily available through the Mid-Hudson Library system, to avoid the expense of buying a book.

Field Trips

Once or twice each year, we go on a field trip on a Saturday. For example, in January of 2023, we met for lunch in Williamstown, MA, followed by a visit to The Clark Museum.

How to Join

Any woman who is interested in Women Unabridged can simply come to a meeting or contact anyone who participates in the group. (If you’re not sure whom to talk to, contact the church office to be put in touch with one of our members). You are welcome to join us any time!
